The responsibility of Phuket Approach is as follow:
- Clearing arrival STARs.
- Inform runway in use and approach procedure.
- Provide updated essential information (Such as changes in local pressure).
- Confirm ATIS information.
The additional responsibility of Phuket Approach is as follow:
- Clearing departure routes as established in SIDs.
- Coordinate with adjacent ATC unit concerning air traffic flow and safety.
- Provide updated essential information (Such as changes in local pressure).
- In case the APP wants to vectored the aircraft off SIDs tracks, the aircraft must maintain runway heading until passed 2,500 ft. to avoid obstacle in the area.
Phuket International Airport required seperation on Final:
Runway 09 under VMC condition:
- No DEP traffic - 8 NM
- DEP traffic - 11 NM
Runway 09 under IMC condition:
- No DEP traffic - 11 NM
- DEP traffic - 15 NM
Runway 27 under VMC condition:
- No DEP traffic - 8 NM
- DEP traffic via G - 11 NM
- DEP traffic back track - 15 NM
Runway 27 under IMC condition:
- No DEP traffic - 11 NM
- DEP traffic via G - 15 NM
- DEP traffic back track - 17 NM
Aircraft inbound for Phuket International Airport shall be transfer from Bangkok Control to Phuket Approach when:
- The aircraft is clear of conflict.
- At least 25 NM from entering Phuket Approach airspace.
- Bangkok Control shall clear the aircraft to descend to FL130 before transfering control of aircraft to Phuket Approach.
Aircraft outbound from Phuket International Airport shall be transfer from Phuket Approach to Bangkok Control when:
- The aircraft is clear of conflict.
- The aircraft should be transfer before leaving the Phuket Approach airspace area.
- Phuket Approach shall clear the aircraft to climb to FL160 before transfering control of aircraft to Bangkok Control.
Aircraft inbound for Phuket International Airport from Krabi Airport shall be transfer when:
- The aircraft is clear of conflict.
- At or after TODUT waypoint on EPGOT1F/G departure.
- At least 2 minute before EPGOT waypoint in order to clear the arrival STAR and advise approach procedure.
Other types of traffic shall be transfer when:
- The aircraft is clear of conflict.
- At least 2 minute before entering the Phuket Approach airspace area.
Aircraft outbound for Krabi Airport from Phuket International Airport shall be transfer when:
- The aircraft is clear of conflict.
- At least 2 minutes before EMRIT waypoint in order to clear the arrival STAR and advise approach procedure.
Other types of traffic shall be transfer when:
- The aircraft is clear of conflict.
- At least 2 minute before entering the Krabi Approach airspace area.
In the event of reduced traffic for departures and arrivals at Phuket International Airport, if runway 09 is being utilized, the controller has the option to issue shortcuts for arriving aircraft, subject to traffic conditions and permissions, along the following routes:
Aircraft arriving on MONBU1C, ONETI1C or SAVSA1C can expect shortcut from the MILAN direct to LAZAM.
Aircraft arriving on EMRIT1C, EPGOT1C or URGAD1C can expect shortcut from the JUVEY direct to LAZAM.
Aircraft entering to land at Phuket Aerodrome shall report over these positions from their respective direction of flight.

- Aircraft entering to land from North of Phuket International Airport, shall report over Thai Muang District, designated as TANGO MIKE (0823.5N 09816.0E) and Ban Khok Kloi designated as KILO KILO (0816.0N 9819.0E) which are approximately 17 NM on R-352 and 9 NM on R-360 of PUT VOR/DME respectively. When reaching KK the aircraft will be instructed to join aerodrome traffic circuit accordingly.
- Aircraft entering to land from Northeast of Phuket International Airport, shall report over Phang Nga City, designated as PAPA NOVEMBER (0826.5N 09831.5E) which is 24 NM on R-033 of PUT VOR/DME. When reaching PN the aircraft will be instructed to join aerodrome traffic circuit accordingly.
- Aircraft entering to land from East of Phuket International Airport, shall report over Ko Yao Noi, designated as YANKEE NOVEMBER (0807.0N 09837.0E) which is 18 NM on R-089 of PUT VOR/DME. When reaching YN the aircraft will be instructed to join aerodrome traffic circuit accordingly.
- Aircraft entering to land from South of Phuket International Airport, shall report over Ko Racha Yai, designated as ROMEO CHARLIE (0736.0N 09822.0E) and Phuket City, designated as PAPA KILO (0753.0N 9823.5E) which are approximately 31 NM on R-174 and 15 NM on R-160 of PUT VOR/DME respectively. When reach PK the aircraft will be instructed to join aerodrome traffic circuit accordingly.

Using both sides of traffic circuit
Overhead approach pattern
Runway 09 by left turn pattern.
Runway 27 by left turn pattern.
