This page describes the most important points to know about Ethiopia Addis Ababa airport, in preparation for the Discover Ethiopia event.
Those informations are for virtual flight simulation only, and are not supposed in any way to be used in real aviation operations.
For this event, like all others, it is of primary importance to have all charts on board at the time of the event, and updated AIRAC cycle (cycle 2110)
Aerosoft, as our official sponsor, has been cooperating with IVAO to make possible this event providing all the charts.
Access to charts is courtesy of Aerosoft.

Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (IATA: ADD, ICAO: HAAB) is an international airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. It is located in the Bole district, 6 km (3.7 mi) southeast of the city centre and 65 km (40 mi) north of Bishoftu. The airport was formerly known as Haile Selassie I International Airport. It is the main hub of Ethiopian Airlines, the national airline that serves destinations in Ethiopia and throughout the African continent, as well as nonstop service to Asia, Europe, North America and South America. The airport is also the base of the Ethiopian Aviation Academy. As of June 2018, nearly 450 flights per day were departing from and arriving at the airport.
Airport elevation is 2,334 m / 7,625 ft, with possibly high temperatures. It results in 1) decreased engine performances and 2) increased Ground Speed at constant Indicated Air Speed. Check your aircraft manual for accurate performances. If unavailable, use extra-caution, especially with heavy aircraft
Terminal 1 serves Domestic and Regional flights for Ethiopian Airlines, EgyptAir, Qatar Airways, Sudan Airways, and Yemenia.
Terminal 2 serves International flights and the rest of the airlines that serve the airport
Cargo Terminal: International flights only
Addis Ababa Bole International Airport operates with two long parallel runways.
Altitude mentionned for each IAF are for descent planning purpose only. Do not descent to those altitude without a proper ATC clearance.
