Divisions may create SO divisional tours for all users of IVAO. Special operation tours are tours that relate to SO airfields, organisations and convention missions/assignments for the pilot to complete.
On completion of divisional SO tours, the division may award the SO division tour award.
Before you develop a SO tour, you must ensure to consider the following points.
- What will make the tour be special operations?
- How will the tour be validated and ensure that the missions/assignments are completed correctly?
- Does restricted airspace need to be created for the tour?
- Is the full tour flyable without ATC?
- Is there a requirement to make scenery for the tour? Do you have access to the resources to create similar scenery for XP11, P3d, FSX, MSFS?
- Do I need to obtain permission from another division to use their airspace/airfields?
- What is the skill/knowledge level to fly the tour?
SO HQ is not involved in the creation or validation of divisional tours but will be able to offer advice.
Below are points that are advised to be included in the tour documentation.
- Links or copies of charts and airfield information.
a. For a lot of airfields and airspace related to SO, their charts and information may be harder to find than civil airfields.
- Detail mission/assignment information
a. Any mission/assignment must be easy to understand and follow, while not being overly simplified.
- Legs list
a. An overview list of all the flight/missions to be flown
Divisional Tours shall be validated by the division, SO HQ will not be involved.
