The IVAO Headquarters Pilots Group is a group of highly active and skilled pilots, whose task is to provide enough traffic or to perform difficult operations when a controller exam takes place.
The main priorities of the HQ Pilots Group are to employ skills, knowledge and everything with a good attitude to help our members in the best way.
The team is part of the HQ Training Department and managed by the HQ Pilots Manager (HPM) and the HQ Pilots Advisors (HPAs).
The roles of the HQ Pilots Manager are to manage the HQ Pilots Group activities.
His responsibilities are:
- Manage HQ Pilots Group presence requests.
- Know the standards of all ATC exams including traffic quotas.
- Liaise with divisional TC/TAC to head-hunt members with good flying skills for possible recruitment.
- Facilitate and host regular team meetings within the management team (HPM/HPA) to review activities including pilots’ availability and discuss possible improvements at least twice a year.
- Manage, in coordination with the TD/TAD, the recruitment of new pilots for the HQ Pilots Group.
- Perform entry interviews for new HQ Pilots candidates.
- Ensure the constant availability of the pilots during the exams.
- Ensure that HQ Pilots do not penalise any exam.
- Be highly available and guarantee to respond to messages regarding the HQ Pilots Group within 72 hours.
- Coordinate HPA activity especially on exams.
- Participate on the human resources management of the HQ Pilots team.
- Guarantee that the group's mission, dynamics, projects and objectives are being properly accomplished.
- Manage HQ Pilots badges and HQ Pilots Exam awards.
The HQ Pilots Advisors helps the HQ Pilots Manager to have a direct view over the group, monitor its performance and support its members with any possible issues.
Their responsibilities are:
- Assist the HPM to manage HQ Pilots Group presence requests.
- Know the standards of all ATC exams including traffic quotas.
- Inform the HPM of the inactivity of the group's pilots.
- Be proactive in all communication media (eg. email, discord, forum, etc.), including responding to requests for and from the HQ Pilots Group.
- Be highly available to fly during training and exam sessions.
- Comply with the minimum flight quota established by the internal guidelines.
- Assume the role of session coordinator during the exams, the principle of which is to be in contact with all the pilots of the group during a session, coordinate the requests of the examiner if needed and report any difficulties possibly encountered.
- Inform division mentors about any issue possibly identified during an exam session.
- Manage Pilot Exam awards in coordination with the HPM.
