Before starting your engines on the apron or connecting on the IVAO network, you have to prepare your flight.
By doing so, you will make sure everything is readyavoid confusion to controllers and other pilots, and above all, YOU !
Step 1 : Choose your flight
Pick where you want to fly from and where you want to go, and if you plan to fly with visual or instrument reference.
It sounds elementary, but we have to start somewhere.
Step 2 : Check the weather
Take a look at the weather en-route, and especially at intended of airports.
Step 3 : Create your flightplan
You can use Simbrief, it's a free tool that generate a flightplan, which you can export to IVAO.
Step 4 : Set up your aircraft
Load your aircraft in the simulator, set the fuel, passengers and/or cargo, and position it at the correct gate or stand.
Step 5 : Connect to IVAO network
Open your pilot sofware and login to the network.
Step 6 : Contact ATC, or if not available use UNICOM
Set the correct frequency, follow given instructions or indicate
Step 7 : FLY !
Perform your normal procedures all along, and enjoy the flight !
These steps are not a full guide to prepare a flight on IVAO, as every flight is different, every preperation will also be.
You might have to remove, add new and/or adapt some steps.
After completion, make a feedback loop : Was I prepared for all eventualities ? How can I avoid making the same mistake ?
The flight preparation phase is as important as the flight phase itself.
It ensures that you have correctly checked everything related to you upcoming flight.
