Aviate / Navigate / Communicate is one of the most famous principles in aviation.
It means: first keep control of the aircraft, then ensure it follows the correct route, and only after that, communicate with air traffic control
1️⃣ Aviate Fly the aircraft first. Keep it under control: maintain altitude, speed, and attitude. Nothing is more important than keeping the airplane flying.
2️⃣ Navigate Know where you are and where you are going. Once the aircraft is stable, check your position and make sure you’re on a safe route.
3️⃣ Communica ttealk to others. Only after the aircraft is stable and you know where you’re going, communicate with air traffic control or other pilots.
In stressful situations, it’s easy to focus on talking or troubleshooting and forget to fly the aircraft. Following this order keeps you safe and prevents accidents.
Even on IVAO, remember this rule:
👉 Don’t panic on the radio – first fly your simulator aircraft, then navigate, and finally communicate.
This is a principle that you will often see on the IVAO forum or during your training sessions.
