Q: Where can I find the IVAO Connector Artifice Software documentation ?
A: You can find the manual at our wiki here: https://wiki.ivao.aero/en/home/devops/manuals/artifice
Q: Which clients are supported by Artifice?
A: Every official client that can connect to IVAO should be supported. This includes legacy (IvAp, XIvAp, IvAc) and BETA (Aurora, Altitude). Please open a new topic at the following forum board if this is not the case for your setup: http://forum.ivao.aero/index.php?board=1889.0
Q: I want to use IVAC2 with Artifice and it does not work.
A: IVAC2 is not capable to connect our new server SHARD. Artifice can only work with the new SHARD IVAO server. But we strongly encourage you to use the new ATC Client Aurora: new.ivao.aero
Q: Does Artifice work on 32bit systems?
A: Unfortunately, Artifice only works for 64bit systems for now.
Q: How to run Artifice on Linux?
A: Be sure to download the file with the "AppImage" extension. You need to enable the "executable" permission on this file to allow its execution. More information on this file format here: https://appimage.org/
Q: Can I use Artifice on a server machine?
A: Yes, you just have to start the program in the command line with an additional --server argument.
Q: How many simultaneous connections does Artifice support?
A: A lot. More seriously, you should be able to connect more than 100 secondary clients if the need arises.
Q: Can I chain multiple Artifice together?
A: Yes! Keep in mind that the callsign used in the IVAO network will be one of the first clients that connect to any of the chained Artifice proxies.
Q:How does Artifice work?
A: Artifice acts as a proxy between your clients (ATC and Pilot) and IVAO servers. It allows having many different clients connected to the IVAO network by merging the traffic under a single callsign and mirroring data from the IVAO servers.
Q: What is the difference between a primary and secondary connection?
A: The first client that connects to Artifice uses the primary connection. It behaves as directly connected to IVAO. Other clients connecting after the first one are managed through secondary connections: they act as network observers and can use any callsign/username/password combination since it will not be visible in the IVAO network.
Q: Can I see myself in the secondary connection?
A: This will not be possible as the second connection is re-displaying the data the first connection has got so, therefore, you will not see yourself.
Q: My clients are disconnected, what should I do?
A: As soon as the primary connection is interrupted (by closing the client for instance), every secondary connection will be closed. This can also happen if the server uplink is closed due to connectivity issues (from Artifice to IVAO servers).
Q: When flying, my aircraft is not visible in the network, what should I do?
A: Only the primary client can be displayed to other users in the network.
Q: I do not see any traffic on my client, what should I do?
A: You can verify that your client is connected to the Artifice by checking its callsign in the Artifice windows.
Q: I cannot update strips in my ATC client, what should I do?
A: Only the primary client can edit strips.
Q: I can send messages on the frequency, but I cannot see the answer, what should I do?
A: Only the primary client can choose a frequency and send messages. Secondary clients can only read incoming messages.
