The IVAO HQ Pilot Group is a highly qualified group of pilots, whose task is to provide sufficient traffic and/or perform demanding operations when a controller exam takes place.
Despite the willingness of the HQ Pilot Group to participate as much as possible in ATC training activities, divisions are reminded that they are responsible for providing and ensuring the necessary traffic for exams and training taking place in their area of responsibility.
The main objectives of the HQ Pilot Group are to:
Provide IVAO Examiners/Trainers with pilots capable of executing difficult maneuvers with a minimum of messages or communications, during ATC sessions.
Reduce the examiner's attention, and trust the HQ pilots as they are qualified to fly all navigation procedures, and to effectively simulate emergency situations.
Ensure that the HQ pilots have been tested on their English language skills.
The HQ Pilot group's top priorities are goodwill, dedication and a spirit of facilitation.
Conversely, they do not fly to judge ATC performance or participate in any way in the evaluation of the ATC performance.
The HQ Pilot Group is managed by the HQ Pilot team, under the responsibility of the Training Director and the Training Assistant Director.
Once a member have successfully passed the entry interview, he/she may become part of the HQ Pilot Group and be invited to participate in its communication channels and media.
After joining the group, the HQ Pilot badge is issued and the pilot is on trial for at least 4 flights (official sessions). The purpose of this trial period is to make sure that the pilot follows the internal instructions and complies with the group's spirit during the session in which he/she participates. If the pilot cannot complete 4 flights in 3 months, then his/her HQ Pilot badge is withdrawn for lack of availability. The evaluation is done by the HQ Pilot Management team.
Each pilot shall follow the general rules presented below:
Be available and fly a minimum of 12 sessions in a 6-month period. Every semester, an evaluation of the availability of all pilots is done by the HPM/HPAM and pilots who have not been able to fly this quota are removed from the group for lack of availability. Therefore, the account status will be turned to inactive. Reactivating inactive accounts is possible via the HQ pilot group Website. The counters are reset every semester. HPAs are subject to this quota. However, an exception is made for the administrator members owing the HQ Pilot badge (TD/TAD/HPM/HPAM) who are exempted to fly this quota, for obvious reasons related their duties.
Confirm participation in a session. In the event of a no-show, the pilot will be marked as absent for the purposes of our statistics. An HQ pilot with more than 25/100 missing ATC training activities, or after 3 consecutive missing ATC training activities, may be removed from the HQ Pilot Group.
Report their participation in the exam or in a given training session on the HQ PILOT website so that the flight can be taken into account for the group.
Follow the IVAO rules and regulations. In the case of a violation, his/her account will be immediately deleted from the group by the HQ Pilots Management Team.
Have a Discord ID and provide this information on the group website and join the IVAO HQ Pilots Discord server.
Note: The internal rules can be modified at any time and, in such a case, all HQ pilots will be informed via the Discord server and by updating this document.
As a sign of membership, the HQ pilots get a special badge in their profile which will be removed when they leave the group.
The HQ Pilot Group's internal operating procedures are published on this web page.
