¶ Downloading and Installing Aurora
Download Aurora ¶ Installation Steps for macOS
- Double-click on the file you downloaded
- Drag the Aurora to Applications folder
- You are good to go! You can launch the Aurora from Applications folder.
On macOS, you may receive a security warning and the Aurora may not launch unless you allow from Settings. Please follow this guide to learn how to allow Aurora to launch.
¶ Installation Steps for Linux
- Mark the downloaded AppImage as executable:
chmod +x Aurora_Linux_x64.AppImage - Launch the executable however you please
¶ Known Bugs
- PTT key name shows as a strange number on Mac
- Pressing Enter on the Login screen doesn't log in
- Some airway routes are displayed incorrectly
- Transition Altitudes are not used from sector files
- Some fixes are missing in the procedures
¶ Missing Features
- Most of the customization options that are available in Aurora for Windows are disabled at the moment
- Switching between colour schemes is not currently supported
- Windows cannot span monitors
- PM windows must be closed with the ".x" command
- The bay list is not available
- Special/defined areas are not available
- The session recorder is not available

Right-Click on MacOS Aurora
To access Right-Click Aurora funtionalities, on MacOS this action is triggered by clicking with both fingers on the touchpad.
¶ How to Report Bugs
Please report any bugs you encounter while using the Aurora for macOS & Linux on the relevant channel at IVAO Family Discord
Before reporting any bugs, please read below:
- Make sure that the issue is not already listed in Known Bugs
- If you are experiencing an issue with sector data, please try re-downloading the sector with the latest version of Aurora before reporting an issue.
- If you are reporting sector rendering issues - please include the name of the relevant sector in your message.
- Include log files in your report

What are the minimum OS requirements for the Aurora for macOS & Linux?
For macOS, minimum version of macOS 10.13 High Sierra is required. For Linux, it is expected to run on most x64 systems, e.g. Ubuntu 18.04+
When will Aurora for macOS & Linux have all the features that are available in Aurora for Windows?
Although we cannot give an exact timeline for that, our developers are working hard for Aurora for macOS & Linux to have the same functionality.
Where can I find the config files?
Config files are located at
~/.config/IVAO/Aurora/
Do I need to download the Aurora again each time when a new version is available?
No, Aurora has an auto-update feature, which means that updates will download automatically and will be in effect after you restart the Aurora.
Where can I find the usage manual?
You can refer to Aurora Manual. While the manual is originally created for Aurora for Windows, most of the functionality is the same. Please keep in mind that the manual is in the process of being updated, therefore some the information there may not be up-to-date.
