Q: Which types of flights are included in Special Operations?
A: Examples of Special Operations are flights operating under military rules, firefighting, police operations, search and rescue operations, aerobatic flights & flying display, construction work, aerial photography, air ambulance, and other types of state, specialised and aerial work (this list is not exhaustive).
Q: I am new to Special Operations. How should I start?
A: We recommend that you take a look at our documentation, which can be found here. If you have more doubts, you can contact your divisional Special Operations Department by writing an email to xx-specialops@ivao.aero (xx is the code of your division) asking for help. We also recommend joining a Special Operations Group; they will offer you training to start within Special Operations.
Q: What is a Special Operations Group (SOG)?
A: Is an organisation that recreates and simulates Special Operations Flights of a real-world entity or a fictional one.

Q: How can I create a Special Operations Group (SOG)?
A: Take a look at the Special Operations Instruction No. 1. There you will find all the necessary information.
Q: Do I need to report my ATC or Pilot session at SO Event ?
A: No! You need to register for the event. You can do it here. Then, in the following days after the event we will grant you the points automatically.
Q: What happens if I fly without registration in an event?
A: It depends on the event. Normally nothing will happen, but sometimes if the event is controlled by slots you will not be able to fly. If you can take off and land or give ATC service, and you want to earn the points for the award, send your tracker link and VID to specops@ivao.aero.
Q: Are there any rules that I must follow in order to fly Special Operations?
A: Yes! You must follow the Special Operations Regulations, that can be found here.
Q: What happens if I breach a Special Operations Regulation?
A: Users violating the IVAO Rules and Regulations can be subject to a suspension issued by a Network Supervisor or authorised administrator on behalf of the Executive Council.
Q: Am I allowed to perform an interception of a civil airplane?
A: Yes, but only if you adhere to the restrictions outlined in Special Operations Regulations S.1.10 and S.1.11.
Q: I reached the required points for the SO ATC/Jet Fighter awards, but the award was not rewarded. What should I do ?
A: If you are sure you have reached the required score for the SO ATC/Fighter Jet award, do not hesitate to send an email specops@ivao.aero with your VID.

Q: Why should we use joinFS ? Do we have to use it ?
A: With this logic we shouldn't include formation flight manuals either since the lags are still too heavy with the actual infrastructure. You can use with altitude at the same time for better model matching and formation flying. This is NOT MANDATORY or REQUIRED. We are using that to be more realistic.

Q: How do I get the Special Operations Award?
A: You have different types of award. If you want to obtain the SOWT award, you must complete a Special Operations World Tour. If you want to obtain the Jet Fighter Award or the SO ATC Award, you must obtain the necessary points. You can check them here.
